Email Account.
By Reg Whelan
G'day Everyone, Does your daily email get cluttered with so much mail from marketers and spam mail that you are likely to overlook important messages? If you answer yes to that question don't worry you are just of many. There is a simple answer. There is no need to have an expensive anti-spam shield set up to limit the number of emails that get through to your in box. You will never have to stop using an email address again. Yes you don't have to keep contacting your friends and associates to let them know that you have a new email address. Just go to http://www.gmail.com and sign up for an account. You will find that gmail has an excellent junk mail detection service. Virtually no spam mail will get through to your inbox. The best part is that there is an excellent mail filter system. When you have an email open there is a drop down menu available and you select 'filter messages like these' a new window will open up and the email address is displayed. You normally don't have to fill any of the other fields. just continue. The next screen has a number of check boxes the first you check if you don't want the email to show in your inbox. There is a check box to check if you want a label applied to the email. You can select this and create a new label or add an existing label to it. Use labels to create some sort of system were your important messages are no longer hidden amongst the mass of mail of lesser importance. You are also further able to classify your mail by adding a colour tag. The system is able to go through your existing mail and filter mail to your labels and classify them. I'm quite sure that the more imaginative of you will be able label and classify their male to some elaborate filing system. I use gmail and I read my mail while online by signing into my gmail account. You are able to import your mail to your computer mail client but I don't think you would be able to import the label and colour classifications. The great thing about reading your emails online is that they are all stored and your contact list is safe if you have problems with your computer. I hope you find this information useful. Reg Whelan

You're right there, Thanks.
Thanks Reg. One of my email accounts is gmail, bit it's not my primary account. Perhaps it should be. Regards, Jim

My ISP was sending notices to my ISP-email account. I told them they better send any notices to my gmail account as I would never use my ISP-email. they soon found that I was serious and adopted my gmail email addy.
Hi Jim: You're absolutely right. Both my wife and I use gmail. John
I found the misspelling of the word mail in the line "I'm quite sure that the more imaginative of you will be able (to) label and classify their male to some elaborate filing system." to have some interesting and funny hidden meanings. Good article. I have found most SPAM emails are actually professionally crafted sales letters. Many make really good FREE copy ready content for new web pages.

hey there, good on yer. you might need to watch copyright when you do that but yes they make good content and reference material. Reg
Best email client on the planet. Apparently one is allowed up to 3 separate gmail accounts: Personal, Business and Other. And if your familiar with setting up IMAP, one can have all three working coherently together.

Thanks something else to learn about. Reg
I found gmail useful for the same reason as described in your intel. So much so that I stopped using other web accounts... :)

I agree it is NOT a good idea to use ISP email addresses for they do become corrupeted with spam ~ which I welcome more in a marketing community. I also invite ISP email users to permanetly forward spammers to Open Networker

ISP 's welcome spammers. They can then charge a fee to protect you from them. Google has advice about dealing with spammers and they offer a US Govt site you are able to forward spam to. They deal with the offenders and offending ISP s Wishing you all the best. Reg More about my interests here.
